Secondaries To Target in DFS

Here are my top five secondaries to target this week in DFS.

  1. New Orleans Saints. Delvin Breaux is on IR and rookie Marshon Lattimore doesn’t sound ready. There’s not much of a pass rush to ease the pressure on this back end either. Add in the high volume/high scoring offense forcing teams to attack and you have a recipe for fantasy points galore.
  2. San Francisco 49ers. There’s some amount of talent at safety but not enough to patch the glaring holes at cornerback. Every team that face the Niners is going to make attacking them a key cog to their gameplan.
  3. Indianapolis Colts. They just lost Vontae Davis to a soft tissue injury to start another season. The entire defense is basically Chuck Pagano personified, good guys but just guys and not top talent. This is going to be a lost season for the boys in blue.
  4. Philadelphia Eagles. The front office entirely neglected the need for multiple corners all offseason. Neither CB drafted can contribute much this year and no notable free agents were signed. They traded for Ronald Darby who’s coming off a down year and is getting thrown right into the fire in a defense that prioritizes QB pressure at the expense of man coverage. All in all this group will have some rough days at the office.
  5. Cleveland Browns. They added some new faces through free agency and the draft but it’s going to take time for them to get on the same page. It’s also not a great sign when the Browns are your best option as a FA. If the offense can run the ball effectively it will take some pressure off, but they may not have that chance if they get behind early.

No Go’s

  • Denver Broncos. The best collection of corners the league has maybe ever seen. They can run with anybody. Their safeties are young, but both have potential. It helps to have Von Miller and Shane Ray (when he returns) rushing opposing QBs.
  • Seattle Seahawks. The Legion of Boom still brings it. Teams still ignore Sherman’s side and it sounds like both Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas are healthy, which they weren’t for much of last season. The pass rush is going to be devastating with the addition of Sheldon Richardson to boot.
