Kwafo’s Quick Thoughts For Week 2

By Kwafo Adarkwa

Week two is setting up to be a fun one. Here are a few quick thoughts as you set lineups for Week 2:

My Core:

  • Pat Mahomes is my new QB crush! He has a cannon for an arm and Andy Reid and the Chiefs coaches have installed a playbook that plays to his strengths. I like him a lot against Pittsburgh on Sunday.
  • Christian McCaffery is a highly targeted weapon for Cam Newton and the Panthers. With Greg Olsen out, look for more work for the second-year man out of Stanford. I think he finds the end zone on Sunday in Atlanta.
  • Emmanuel Sanders has a QB in Case Keenum. In a favorable matchup vs. Oakland at home look for this new connection to keep rolling and for Sanders’ target share and overall output to be on par with his week one numbers.

  • Dante Pettis is going to be good. He caught a touchdown from Jimmy “GQ” Garoppolo last week and I like his chances again to find the end zone especially if Marquise Goodwin is hampered at all.
  • Alex Smith going against the Colts in the home opener is in a plus matchup. Jay Gruden seems to have found the perfect QB for his system. I am predicting 260-280 yds through the air and 30 yds on the ground and 3 total TDs for Smith on Sunday.
  • Tennessee Titans fans and coaches alike will see that Dion Lewis is the best RB for this team. He will do work against the Texans at home. I like him on ppr heavy sites.

Fantasy Fade:

  • Tom Brady going against a vengeful Jacksonville team. I don’t like the matchup for Tom Terrific. Fading him this week.
  • David Johnson has a tough matchup against the Rams stout D and is dealing with back issues. Also, after one week, it seems a bit unclear how this coaching staff plans on using him in the offense. I am fading the talented runner this week.
  • Josh Gordon on the surface seems to be a play you want to make against the porous Saints D. I don’t trust Tyrod, Hue Jackson or any of the Browns and I am not as sure New Orleans’ D is as bad as they showed in week 1. Fading the talented wideout here.
